Winning barangays in the twin contests for Lupon Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA) and Outstanding Barangay Peace & Order (BPOC) were announced today (October 19) during the regular Monday convocation program of City Hall employees.
For the fourth consecutive year, Barangay Rosary Heights 1 or Piedro Colina has been adjudged again as Outstanding Lupon in the city. Its Punong Barangay, Eliseo Cerdania, received a plaque and P10,000 cash prize from City Mayor Muslimin Sema and DILG City Director Guianodin Abdilah.
The other winners were Rosary Heights 12, Rosary Heights 13 & Rosary Heights 6 which placed first, second and third runners-up, respectively. Plaques and cash prizes were also given.
On the other hand, the Outstanding BPOC title was garnered by Barangay Rosary Heights 13 which received a cash prize of P10,000 and plaque. Rosary Heights 6 and Rosary Heights 1 placed as first and second runners-up, respectively.
The LTIA is given annually to pay special tribute to Lupons with exemplary performances in the administration of the Barangay Justice System or Katarungang Pambarangay. It also hopes to provide impetus to other Lupons in improving their over-all performances in the furtherance of Katarungang Pambarangay concerns.
The DILG as well as the local governments are directed to monitor the functionality of BPOCs based on the presence of indicators such as the organization, meetings, policies and budget and accomplishment reports on activities undertaken.
Barangay RH 1 will automatically qualify in the regional search.
The contests were jointly spearheaded by the Cotabato City DILG Office and the Office of the City Mayor - Community Affairs and Cooperative Division.
