Thirty persons with disabilities (PWD’s) were the recipients of loan assistance from the City Government of Cotabato during simple awarding rites August 26 at the New City Hall.
City Mayor Mus Sema and City Social Welfare Coordinator Ophelia Ibrahim personally handed over cash amount of P5,000 to each of the 30 PWD’s.
Sema said that the interest-free loan is the sign of government care for the differently-abled residents. He also stressed that the continuity of the program, which started many years ago, is dependent on the payback record of the recipients which, thus far, is very high.
The recipients are all members of PERCFECC or Physically Extra-Challenged Persons Federation, Cotabato City. All the recipients are engaged in small-scale livelihoods such as sari-sari store, balut vending, body massage and sewing.
Last year, the group was also the recipients of a P90-thousand worth of machines and equipment for livelihood activities.
