39 Qur’an readers vied with each other to produce the most melodious and right reading of the Qur’an, the holy book of Muslims. Now on its 35th year in Cotabato City, the annual “competition” was held May 10 at the Social Hall of the People’s Palace.
In the male category, Saudi Gandisa was declared champion among 23 contestants. He was followed by Yusop Abubakar. Third placer was Yahya Sangki.
Among the 16 female competitors, Muslima Serad bagged the first place. Second was Hamida Hanafi while Samira Egkay got third.
The champions would compete on May 24 at Datu Paglas, Maguindanao for the regional level. The contest was organized by the Haraqato Alda’wah and Holy Qur’an Affairs Association - Cotabato City Chapter.
