November 3, 2010 - The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) has given an unsolicited advice to government peace panel especially Chairman Atty. Marvic Leonen that a direct access to the President of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP) is indispensable if he has to be successful as a chief negotiator.
“This is a very important lesson learned in our more than a decade of negotiation with government and. I hope our counterpart in government will not take this as an offense. ”
This was the statement of Khaled Musa, deputy chairman of the MILF committee on information, who recalled that the first GRP peace negotiator, Ambassador Fortunato Abat, had direct access to President Fidel Ramos; Maj. Gen. Orlando Soriano had direct contact to President Joseph Estrada, and the same situation was also true in the case of Maj. Gen. Edgardo Batenga with Estrada.
