Assistant Secretary Edilberto de Luna (left) of the Department of Agriculture (DA) re-affirms the national government’s support for the development of Mindanao’s fruit industry at the 7th Mindanao Fruit Industry Conference held in Tagum City, Davao del Norte. Beside him is DA-XI Regional Executive Director Carlos Mendoza. The two-day event was organized by the Mindanao Fruit Industry (MinFruit) Council and supported by the DA, Department of Trade and Industry, city and provincial governments, and USAID’s Growth with Equity in Mindanao (GEM) Program, which is implemented under the oversight of the Mindanao Development Authority. Mindanao is among the top providers of fresh and processed tropical fruit, such as banana chips, to key export markets like Japan and Hongkong. GEM
