There is a huge global demand for the kind of “eco-friendly” products for which Mindanao is known, said Mindanao Trade Expo Foundation president Ann Pamintuan (standing). The foundation is organizing the Mindanao Trade Expo, which will be held from August 19 to 22 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Davao City. MTE 2010 is supported by PhilExport 11, the Export Development Council, the Department of Agriculture, Department of Trade and Industry, and USAID’s Growth with Equity in Mindanao (GEM) Program. This year’s MTE will showcase Mindanao’s world-class products made from environmentally-sustainable raw materials, including gift and house ware items, furniture and home decor, fashion accessories, and processed food. The four-day event will also feature Mindanao’s top eco-tourism destinations and various investment opportunities in the region. Seated at the presidential table (r-l) are: Stephen Antig, PhilExport XI president; Marizon Loreto, DTI regional director; and Mae Alcantara, proprietor of Crystal Seas Handwoven Products. The GEM Program is implemented under the oversight of the Mindanao Development Authority. GEM
