Butuan –On December 29, 2009 around 7 o’clock in the evening at Brgy Aurora, Taganaan, Surigao del Norte, a certain Wilberto Suanco Origenes, 49 years old married, Barangay Captain of Brgy Aurora, Taganaan, Surigao del Norte and ABC President of said municipality was shot inside his residence by an unidentified person.
The victim is a Vice Mayor candidate in May 2010 election under Nacionalista Party (NP).
Investigation disclosed that the suspect entered inside the victim’s house and shot him twice to his body using a caliber .45 pistol.Another suspect was seen waiting outside as a lookout.
After the incident, the suspects hurriedly left to unknown direction onboard a single motorcycle without plate number.
Victim who was immediately rushed to Surigao Medical Center for treatment is now out of danger and recuperating.
A team from 1404th PPMG led by Police Inspector Matron Calyaen was detailed in the Hospital to secure the victim.
Meanwhile, a Task Force ORIGENES was created with Police Senior Supt. David Yalong Ombao, Surigao del Norte Provincial Director as the TF Commander with Police Inspector Elvie Dedicatoria, Chief of Police of Taganaan Municipal Police Station as the Assistant TF Commander.
Motive of the incident is yet to be established although some speculated that political motives were behind the shooting incident.
The Crime Laboratory Office Surigao Norte recovered two empty shells of caliber .45 at the crime scene.
The team also interviewed several witnesses and took cartographic sketch of the suspect with the following description: between 28-30 years old, weighing more or less 6O kilos, fair complexion, medium build, and between 5′2″ to 5′3″ in height.
Affidavits of the witnesses are now being prepared by Taganaan MPS.
