December 14, 2009 – The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) vehemently denied involvement in the jailbreak in Isabela City, Basilan early morning yesterday.
Eid Kabalu, the MILF military spokesman, in an interview said “the MILF has nothing to do with the jailbreak in Basilan Provincial Jail.”
According to reports, dozens of unidentified armed men forcibly entered the jail around 2am. Some 31 prisoners had escaped during the jailbreak, one of them is Commander Dan Asnawi aka Laksaw, the second highest ranking military official of the MILF in Basilan.
