Butuan – The campaign has begun to obtain a mass support from people in Mindanao the cause raised by Mindanaoans for Mindanao (M4M) Movement.
In the hope to attain full development in Mindanao and be heard in the senate, M4M will be choosing whom to endorse as senate candidates for the May 2010 elections and the presidential candidate they will be supporting.
In a press conference held in the afternoon of September 22 at Dotties Restaurant here in the city, Oliver Inodeo announced the holding of Regional Congresses in Mindanao to come up a combined resolution identifying who among politicians from Mindanao who expressed interest in running as senators worth the support of M4M to obtain votes of the majority, regardless of their political affiliations.
M4M Executive Committee initially had 6 names that were being carefully screened which
include among others Ompong Plaza, Gary Teves and Adel Tamano.
However, those not from Mindanao but embraced the advocacy for a progressive Mindanao will likewise get the support from M4M.
Accordingly the movement is committed to organize a Mindanao Solidarity Bloc to promote development, peace and equity for Mindanao.
On September 24, M4M will launch in Butuan the first of 5 regional conferences designed to formulate resolutions for national action.
More or less 1,000 participants are expected to attend the said event from different sectors.
Confirmed to give messages during the 1st M4M Caraga Regional Congress are Governors of the 5 provinces in the region, Butuan City Mayor Democrito D. Plaza II with the presence also of Tawi-Tawi businessman and M4M Chairman Rolly Pelinggon who will deliver his keynote speech.
Mount Diwata (Diwalwal) Barangay Captain Francisco Tito of Monkayo, Compostela Province is also scheduled to talk about “Mga Panglantaw Alang sa Mindanao” (Visions for Mindanao).
DPWH Secretary Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. is expected to arrive on Thursday to brief the participants on the infrastructure projects in the Caraga Region and Mindanao while Finance Secretary Margarito Teves will discu
ss the socio-economic, cultural and political situation in Caraga.
The next congress will be held on September 28 in Tagum City for Davao Region, then in Cagayan de Oro City for Region 10 on September 30, in General Santos City for Region 12 on October 2 and finally in Zamboanga City for Regions 9 and ARMM on October 6.
After the conduct of 5 regional congresses, M4M will immediately announce to the public the names of politicians who will be running in the senate and the president candidate for next year’s election, which will be strongly endorsed to obtain a biggest vote and hopefully win the election.
