GUMASA, Sarangani (August 31, 2009) – At high noon Monday, August 31, Singaporean adventurer Khoo Swee Chiow, Erwin “Buzzy” Budlong of Cebu City and Arnel Gabutero of Davao City bid goodbye to well-wishers in Gumasa beach as they begin the first-ever attempt to kayak the entire length of the Philippines from Glan, Sarangani to Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte in a 3,300-km. journey over 100 days. At intervals along the route, the team will meet up with fellow kayakers, students and community clubs to forge friendship and promote kayaking. Mr. Khoo’s undertaking is significant as it takes place against the backdrop of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between Singapore and the Philippines this year.
