July 28, 2009 - Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), Prof. Ikmeleddin Ihsanoglu, came out with an official statement supporting the peace talks between the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP).This is so far the clearest expression of support from the highest OIC official to the 12-year GRP-MILF Peace Talks, which used to be marred by serious fighting between the two parties since they opened their talks on January 7, 1997.
