July 23, 2009 – Heavy firefight erupted between forces of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP) yesterday afternoon in Aleosan and Pikit, Cotabato Province.
Gun battle flared up at Barangay Pagangan in Aleosan and Barangay Nalapaan in Pikit around 5pm that lasted for more than an hour. Areas of encounters in both barangays are less than half kilometers away from Cotabato City – Davao City national highway.
