July 24, 2009 –The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) will issue a declaration of suspension of military actions (SOMA) against the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) tomorrow, July 25, in response to the government declaration of suspension of all military operations (SOMO) against the MILF issued by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo yesterday, July 23.
This was confirmed by Mohagher Iqbal, MILF chief peace negotiator and concurrently also its chief information officer, in talks with reporters yesterday.
He explained that the MILF cannot issue a declaration immediately, saying there is really a need to reach out to our commanders in the field.
