Butuan – Members of the AFP, both active and inactive in the military service have only more than 1-month to leave their homes situated inside the military camp reservation area in Bancasi.

The camp reservation areas are occupied by 200 households covering 36.6 hectares land area, about 127 kilometers away from the national highway, and only a few kilometres distance from Bancasi airport.

On August 31, any structures within the area will be demolished as ordered by the court, and according to Lt. Col. Efraim Orofel, said demolition order has been re-set twice already and there’s no reason why it won’t push through this time.

Mr. Oliver Pulido, AFP retiree and President of the Mountain View Neighbourhood Association of Butuan City said, there was a memorandum of agreement already signed for them to vacate the area as the AFP soon starts implementing the expansion of its offices.

And of the total 228 available lots, only 129 availed from the relocation site offered by the city government through the City Housing and Development Office.

City Housing Chief, Engr. Lorden Vismanos did not denied the fact, that despite series of dialogues to affected families, there were those who oppose and stood firm in refusing to sign up for the relocation.

The relocation site has an area of 3.8 hectares privately owned and bought by the city government after successful negotiations in its intent to provide displaced families from the AFP Bancasi camp reservation.

Families reluctant in leaving the camp demanded to the city government to at least develop the relocation site to make it liveable.
