July 16, 2009 - The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) has clarified that the solution to end conflict in Mindanao is not through development alone; saying people who buy this line is following the government thesis that the cause of the conflict is the poverty of the people.“This is a simplistic view,” said Muhammad Ameen, chairperson of the MILF Secretariat, who was apparently reacting to the statement of an MNLF political officer, Abu Amri Taddik, who said in an interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer in its July 16 issue that the key to solving the Mindanao conflict and the Abu Sayyaf problem is development.
