BUTUAN CITY- Diogenes Osabel who is one of the active convenor of Global Filipino Nation (GFN), a progressive movement group calling for political reforms and change for the homeland has been sworn in as new party-list representative last July 6 at the House of Representatives.
No less than House Speaker Prospero C. Nograles administered the oath of office to Alagad party-list Reps. Rodante Marcoleta and Diogenes Osabel.
Diogenes Osabel is the founding president of Partido ng Maralitang-Lungsod (ALAGAD) founded in 1997.
ALAGAD’s advocacy is anchored on the alleviation of extreme poverty in this country. This is palpably manifest in the nature of the House Bills and Resolutions so far filed and its strong involvement in poverty-related and socially-driven committees.
Its ardent support for the passage of House Bill 3773, Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s) and planned families, underscores the Party’s recognition of the direct link between poverty and population including the need to legislate an Integrated National Population Program.
This is why ALAGAD supported the erstwhile Ligtas Buntis Project of the DOH even as it regularly distributes contraceptives in depressed areas during its outreach programs.
