Butuan – Kuljit Singh, an Indian national who was reported missing by his friend Jagtar Kaur Singh last week has been rescued by Butuan City police who immediately launched follow-up operations.
The victim was last seen leaving his house to collect payments of his lending business. The victim’s uncle informed police operatives that he received a call from the kidnappers demanding a15 million peso ransom.
It is to be recalled that based on witnesses accounts during the initial investigation conducted by Butuan City Police Office, that while the victim was driving his single motorcycle Honda XRM at Sitio Kinabutan, a white Mitsubishi Lancer bearing plate number GPE-699 suddenly blocked his way and was ordered to disembark from his motorcycle by 3 suspects identifying themselves to be members of the PNP and Bureau of Immigration and Deportation.
In the course of investigation, the get away vehicle was traced to Crispina Flores Singh of Cabadbaran City.
A rescue operation was conducted by the joint team from Butuan City Police Office led by City Police Director Police Supt. Joseph Plaza together with the CIDG operatives led by Police Senior Inspector Nap[oleon Duquez on July 6 at about 8:10 in the evening at Purok 9 Panlaitan, Brgy La Union, Cabadbaran, Agusan del Norte.
The suspects identified as Bikram Singh, an Indian National from Panjab City, India and his Filipina wife Crispina Flores Singh, both residents of Purok1, Nagka Road, Brgy Calibunan, Cabadbaran were apprehended.
A case of kidnapping and serious illegal detention is now being prepared by the Butuan City Police Office.
