Malaybalay City – Bukidnon State University (BSU) now enters into its third year as a state university after President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo signed into law RA 9456 converting Bukidnon State College in Malaybalay City into a University to be known as Bukidnon State University. June 10 every year is celebrated as the founding anniversary of its university hood. But this year, it was rescheduled to June 30 after opening of classes was suspended at the height of the Influenza AH1N1 virus issue.
Bukidnon State University started a humble beginning. In 1924 the name Bukidnon Provincial High School sprouted in an approximately 7-hectare land. It bloomed into a normal school in 1928; transformed into a normal secondary school in 1954, converted into a normal college in 1972; and blossomed into a state college in 1976.
This year’s anniversary theme “2nd Fruitful years” exude the mission and vision of being an institution of higher learning in teacher education, sciences and humanities that develops competitive professionals who are committed to build a sustainable life for all through quality instruction, research, extension and production. In its seasoned stage, BSU has set a tradition for academic excellence, excellent faculty, experienced administrators and good facilities and it continues to hope to gain some more prestige and honor as a legacy to its founders, alumni, its faculty and students.
In the 1st Semester (SY 2009-2010), BSU has set a new record of an increase in student enrollees with a grand total of 9,602.
