Members of the Balingasag Farmers Association of Misamis Oriental pack their harvested ampalaya (bitter gourd) and talong (eggplant) for shipment to a shopping mall in Cebu City. The Northern Mindanao Vegetable Producer’s Association (NorMinVeggies) and USAID’s Growth with Equity in Mindanao (GEM) Program, under the oversight of the Mindanao Economic Development Council, are working with producer groups like the Balingasag association to expand marketing links with markets in the Visayas and Luzon and to increase out shipments of Mindanao-grown vegetables.
