Butuan – Early today DOH Regional Director Leonita Gorgolon confirmed its first case of influenza A(H1N1) in Caraga involving a 4 year old kid who arrived in Butuan on June 13 from Hongkong.
The child manifested flu like symptoms that prompted the family to report the incident to DOH who immediately conducted swab tests and advised family members for a home quarantine.
It was only yesterday that health authorities got hold of the result and confirmed the first A(H1N1) case in Caraga and the whole of Mindanao.
Director Gorgolon referred the child to Davao hospital following the family’s request.
In Wednesdays Regional Peace and Order council meeting held at the city hall, Director Gorgolon reported that the country including Caraga is on alert level 6, which means that pandemic is inevitable because of the widespread virus case.
Prior to yesterdays’ confirmation of an A(H1n1) case, Caraga has 11 suspected case including 2 minors who arrived from Hongkong and Florida.
Despite the presence of 1 positive case of A(H1N1) here in Caraga, Director Gorgolon said the public has no reason to panic as DOH Caraga intensified their proactive measures to protect public health and A(H1N1) is not a serious case.
