Butuan – The Department of Health Caraga Regional Office suspended its day to day press briefing to local media on updates of A(H1N1) due to the rise of new confirmed cases here in the Philippines.
According to DOH Regional Director Dr. Leonita Gorgolon, the holding of daily press conferences only added fear and panic to the public against the virus and instead announced that DOH Caraga shall hold media briefing twice in a week or as the case arises.
As of yesterday, Health Secretary Francisco Duque confirmed 23 more cases of A(H1N1) infection in the country, bringing the total number of infected people to 77, the highest in Southeast Asian Region.
However, it was stressed by the Secretary that there is no community spread of the virus and Philippines is still negative from an outbreak.
Here in the region Director Gorgolon reiterates DOH Advisory to the general public to report immediately to their office anyone observed as suspect of A (H1N1) at Centre for Health and Development DOH Caraga Hotline (085) 225-3876.
