Butuan – Unidentified gunman shot dead a former member of Police Regional Office 13 last night at Purok 5, Barangay Ong Yiu.
Rolando Valdez alyas ‘Rocky’ 50 years old, a native of Lapuz, Iloilo City and currently residing at purok 2 Barangay Taligaman, Butuan City was shot 9 times resulting to his instantaneous death.
The victim was a Philippine Constabulary member until 1996 and became a PNP member with a PO3 rank but went AWOL and was declared a convict in early 2000.
Police records also revealed that Valdez has been shot in 2008 but survived with only a gun shot wound at his hand.
Butuan City Police Station 2 is looking at the victim’s involvement in illegal drugs as possible motives in the killing.
One bullet and several empty shells from a calibre 45 were found at the crime scene.
