Firm to build P25-million shipbuilding facility

GENSAN Shipyard will break ground on March 24 for a new shipbuilding facility with a combined 10,000T capacity slipway.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will be the invited principal sponsor.

When completed and fully operational, the P250-million facility of Gensan Shipyard, a member company of the RD Group, would be the biggest in Mindanao.

"Our goal is to become a major player in shipbuilding in the Asean region and help push for BIMP-Eaga development in southern Philippines," said Rodrigo E. Rivera Sr., RD Group chair and CEO.

Nature and Man causing Mindanao-wide brownouts!

General Santos City and the whole of Soccsksargen plus Davao and a host of other places in Mindanao have been suffering from a series of unscheduled power outages lately.

At one point, I could count a number of 3-4 brownouts during the 8-hour period in my office which causes a lot of strain on our computers. I am just waiting for the time when my mini-Mac conks out due to this.
